Moroccan Tadelakt
Marrakesh lime plaster with a burnished, waterproof satin sheen
Tadelakt comes from Marrakesh, where it has lined hammams and cisterns for centuries. It is a lime plaster burnished with a smooth stone and then treated with black olive soap, which reacts with the lime to form a continuous, jointless waterproof membrane — a single unbroken surface with no grout lines to fail.
The result is a soft, burnished satin sheen that is naturally antimicrobial and mould-resistant, which is exactly why it belongs in bathrooms, wet rooms and around basins. It brings a tactile, hand-worked warmth that tiling simply can't.
A seamless waterproof membrane
Burnishing the lime and sealing it with black olive soap turns the plaster into a continuous waterproof skin — no joints, no grout, nothing for water to work behind. It's the traditional way wet spaces were finished long before tiling existed.
Antimicrobial by nature
Because it stays highly alkaline, Tadelakt naturally resists mould and microbes — a genuine advantage in a bathroom or steam space, and one that comes from the material itself rather than an added coating.
